Commonwealth Baton Relay

Learning about Astronomy

This half term, Year 4 were very lucky to welcome some astronomers from Kielder Observatory. We had a fantastic time and learned some many new facts about astronomy!

Position and Direction

In Year 2 we have put our position and direction learning to the test by drawing and describing routes for our friends. We are very impressed with the children’s understanding of the terms left, right, forwards, backwards, anti-clockwise, clockwise and describing turns using what we know about fractions.

Fun in Year 2 PE

Year 2 have been enjoying PE this half term. They have been completing a circuit of activities then doing a relay race using the batons. Now the children are familiar with the equipment, they have been able to create their own versions of the activities.

Dreamcatchers

We had a very dreamy day last Friday in Year 4 – we really enjoyed making dreamcatchers while listening to some Native American flute music! See all the beautiful creations in the images below:

The Newsham Ninja

Some children from Year 5 went to Gateshead Stadium to race their Goblin car ‘The Newsham Ninja’. Finding Half

Penguins class drew on the tables today! Don’t worry though, it was just them showing us how brilliant they are at finding half. They even drew their own sharing pockets before equally halving different amounts. A great job!
