Admissions

Starting school is a very important time for you, your child and the school. We all need to work together to make the transition smooth and rewarding.

Sometimes children need to join the school when the term has started or later on in their school life.  Northumberland County Council (NCC) allocate all places for Newsham Primary School from Reception to Year 6.  More information can be found on their website here.

Once a place has been allocated by NCC an appointment will be made with either the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher to look around and talk about expectations from both yourself and us.

We make every effort to ensure that they are welcomed, looked after, and observed, so that they quickly make friends and can find their way around the school.

Teachers give pupils time to settle before making an assessment of their academic ability. This assessment, together with information from their previous school, will enable your child to have the best possible start in our school.

At the age of 11 most of our pupils transfer to The Blyth Academy or Bede Academy.

Nursery Admissions

We ask that parents register pupils for our nursery as soon as possible.

Registration forms are available on our website, in the about section / useful information for parents / booking and request forms.
