Starting school is a very important time for you, your child and the school. We all need to work together to make the transition smooth and rewarding.
All parents/carers, whether in or outside the school’s catchment area, must fill in a school preference form. This form should be returned to Northumberland County Council prior to the child entering school and again when transferring to Secondary School. At the age of 11 most of our pupils transfer to The Blyth Academy or Bede Academy.
Sometimes children need to join the school when the term has started or later on in their school life. All forms for this can be obtained from NCC at the admissions department, telephone 01670 624 889.
Once a place has been allocated by NCC an appointment will be made with either the Headteacher or a member of the Senior Leadership Team to look around and talk about expectations from both yourself and us.
We make every effort to ensure that they are welcomed, looked after, and observed, so that they quickly make friends and can find their way around the school.
Teachers give pupils time to settle before making an assessment of their academic ability. This assessment, together with information from their previous school, will enable your child to have the best possible start in our school.
We ask that parents register pupils for our nursery as soon as possible.
Registration forms are also available from the school office upon request.
