Celebrating Diversity in Britain

Last week we continued to develop into creative sculptors, whilst linking our art work to a whole school focus on recycling. We learnt about Michelle Reader, a figurative sculptor from London, who uses recycled materials to create her sculptures. Reid shared his knowledge about London, after a recent visit, and we spent some time exploring… More

Another busy (if a little cold) week!

We had a great start to the week in Year One. The children enthusiastically investigated religiously significant objects and buildings in relation to the Hindu faith. As part of our Hinduism topic, which we are focusing on this half term, the children will learn about diversity in Britain, Hindu customs and the life of Hindus… More

Welcome Back!

Santa Claus is coming to town!

The festive season is upon us this week in Year One. After three hugely successful Christmas productions last week, the children certainly earned their party day on Wednesday, which they thoroughly enjoyed. One Small Step for Man, One Giant Leap for Mankind!

This week our intrepid Year One time travellers stepped back into the Tardis and continued to develop an awareness of the past, using common words and phrases relating to the passing of time. We explored where the space race would fit into a chronological framework and recognised that our lives where much closer to the… More

Space Week Two

This week the children considered life without light! We looked at different light sources and recognised that the moon just reflects the light of the sun, rather than being a light source like we first thought! We helped Plop, from the Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark, investigate which would be the best thing… More
