On Wednesday 8th November we were lucky enough to have ‘The Big Smiles Roadshow’ at school.
There were three different activities for us to complete:
- Visiting the dentist caravan – we went into the caravan and some of us sat in the dentist’s chair while others dressed up and pretended to be the dentist and the nurse. We found out about the different tools that a dentist uses such as a tiny mirror for looking at all of our teeth and also the suction pipe that clears away saliva if we dribble while the dentist is checking our teeth.
2. Cleaning our teeth properly – some children were chosen to have a go at cleaning their teeth and then having a special coloured tablet in their mouth to show if they had cleaned their teeth well. We learned that we must clean our teeth for two minutes, twice a day.
3. Choosing good foods and bad foods – we learned that some foods are good for our teeth but other foods such as sweets and fizzy drinks are full of sugar which can make holes in our teeth so we should only have these after our main meal. We also need to remember to brush our teeth twice every day so that our teeth are clean and not dirty and smelly.
