Over the last two weeks, our tadpoles have gone through some more amazing changes. Some of the changes happened very rapidly overnight. Our tadpoles grew back legs first, then front legs and became little froglets.
The very next day we came to school in the morning and noticed that some of them had already absorbed their long tails and become tiny frogs.
We have enjoyed learning about how to look after the tadpoles and what we need to do to help them grow and change. Once they are frogs, the kindest thing to do is return them to the wild and put them back in the pond where they came from. We got our tadpoles from the pond in Miss Ames’ Dad’s back garden so she took them home with her in a plastic tub with airholes and released them. She videoed the process so we could watch what happened a school.
We are hoping that these frogs will thrive in the wild and grow as adults to lay their own frogspawn for us to look after in Nursery and Reception again next year.
