We have had a good week again in Puffins and Penguins!
Our week began with the continuation of our UK Weather booklets. This cross curricular series of lessons has worked very well. Through geography and science, the children have used their sentence writing skills to complete their booklets. Lots of children are using and to combine two simple sentences together as they write. They make impressive reading!
In maths we have been adding and subtracting by making our own numberlines. The children then used this method to answer addition and subtraction word problems. We also spent some time revising multiplication and division. If you need any support with the methods we use in school please let us know.
The children completed their Rising Stars tests this week. Our reading, spelling, punctuation and grammar and maths tests were challenging but the children completed them with enthusiasm and importantly, they tried their best.
Thank you to everyone who attended the Phonics Check meeting on Wednesday. We spent some time together as parents and teachers to find out what is coming up in June for our children. Advice was given on how to support and prepare your children at home. The Phonics Check takes place during the week of 12th June. Please make sure your child is in school this week to complete the check.
Next week we will be comparing the weather in the UK to Australia, measuring length and height, and researching the Easter story and the symbols associated with it.
Thursday is our Easter Eggstravaganza day – get your choices of activities in to us as soon as possible! Children can wear Easter colours on this day.
Friday is our behaviour award Movie Morning! Children need to bring a signed letter to show their choice of movie. This is a non-uniform day.
School closes at 2pm on Friday 7th April.
