Year 1 had the most wonderful day at Beamish on Wednesday. The sun was shining and the children were impeccably well behaved, making us very proud of them indeed!
We had the opportunity to visit the school and take part in a Victorian lesson with a very strict teacher who showed us what it would have been like learning to read, write and do arithmetic.
We took a ride on the tram which was very exciting and visited the pit village where some very interesting people told us all about life as part of a pit man’s family. We spotted lots of objects in the homes that we have been learning about in school as well as lots of new things.
We had a look around the farm and farmhouse where there were lots of animals to see and some old fashioned farm equipment.
Some children were so exhausted from their exciting day that they fell fast asleep on the bus coming home.
