This week, across the country, it is National Anti-Bullying week. In year 3, we decided to explore the idea of ‘What is Bullying?’.
To start with, we researched the difference between what is classed as bullying and what isn’t. We found out that bullying is something that happens regularly and is done deliberately to cause physical or emotional pain. There is a short mnemonic to help us to remember.
Think bullying, think S.T.O.P. – Several Times On Purpose
In small groups, we were then given a series of different situations that could happen to us inside and outside of school. Through discussion, we had to decide whether we felt like it was bullying or not. We shared our decisions with the rest of the class.
In pairs, or groups of three, we then had to take one of the examples of bullying and create a short drama to represent the issue. After each performance, we talked about how the individuals involved in these situations could resolve their problems.
