Maths Apps to Help at Home

Following on from last night’s parent workshop, we would like to share some of the free Apps you can download to help your child with numeracy at home. The links are highlighted in blue beneath each section.

Monster Math

Monster Math is an app which allows you to customise what your child is able to focus on. In the settings section, there are over 40 different options covering many different areas of numeracy. You can choose which areas of numeracy you would like your child to study while playing on the game. This could be their current times tables or what they are currently learning about in class.

Math Master – Brain Quizzes

This App offers timed tasks for all of the different calculation methods (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) as well as other numeracy topics. The quicker you child completes a task, the more points they gain. The more points they earn for their character, the more they unlock.

Quick Brain

The real strength of quick brain is your ability to adjust the time you child can have for each question and also decide on the level of difficulty. We would recommend starting off with a more lenient time allowance before reducing the time as a challenge when your child has built up their confidence on the App.

Don’t forget that as a school we are signed up to Mathletics. There is now a tablet / phone friendly App which allows your child to use Mathletics on the go. Every time they get 1000 points, they are rewarded with Team Points in class and are given a certificate in front of the entire school during Friday assembly. The Matheltics team tailor their app to meet the requirements of every year group so using this at home will increase your child’s chances of being confident and successful in numeracy.
