Our super scientists have been at it again!
This half term our science topic is light and dark. We started the unit by discussing different sources of light. The children sorted picture cards into: light source/not a light source/unsure. This activity generated a lot of discussion and disagreements about whether or not a mirror is a light source so we decided to have a debate about it. The class were divided up into two groups, those who thought that a mirror was a light source and those who thought it was not. They paired up and had a sensible discussion, explaining their thoughts and ideas. After the debate, the children were given the opportunity to change their minds, and if undecided to make an informed decision.
The children amazed the adults in the room with their level of maturity during the discussion and the use of scientific understanding to explain their ideas.
