We had a lovely assembly this week to commemorate fallen soldiers, Grandma Una came in and played a big part in our assembly, having been personally effected by WW2. Garandma Una was only a teenager when the war was declared and she shared many memories and brought along special memorabilia including her husbands medals, photographs of her family at the time and her ration book. She had the children engaged and understanding just what it would have been like during the war, something which many of us could never imagine. We will be having a minutes silence at 11am today as a school to remember those who fought and died for our country.
We have had another busy week with lots of learning. Writing recounts in literacy, some children preparing for a gymnastics festival, choir attendance, booster clubs and basket ball. The children have had many things to juggle and our still giving 100%. Thank you to all of those who have made an effort with homework, we still have a few children who must try to hand homework in on a regular basis. The efforts at home are definitely affecting the children’s overall progress.
Hope to see you all next Tuesday at 4.30pm where we will be hosting a parent’s workshop in order to help you understand what the children are learning on a daily basis, and offer support and guidance to you as parents, hopefully being able to answer any queries you may have about the children’s work and learning.
