Last week in Nursery, we joined the whole school in celebrating Children in Need. We came to Nursery in non-uniform and some of us even had Pudsey Bear themed clothes and ears!
The theme this year was ‘Spend a Penny’. We were invited to bring some money in to Nursery and we had to put it into a toilet! We had lots of fun and enjoyed raising lots of money for Pudsey Bear and Children in Need. Well done everybody!
As part of or topic ‘Can we explore it?’, we read the story ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ by Michael Rosen.
To really bring the story to life we went on our own bear hunt through the woodland walk at the bottom of our school field.
We brought our wellies, warm coats, hats and gloves into Nursery and thought about what else we might need to take with us. We even took an apple for the bear in case he was hungry!
Just like in the story, it was a beautiful day and the sun was shining.
We had to go through ‘swishy, swashy grass’, ‘thick, oozy mud’ and a ‘big, dark forest’.
At the end of our bear hunt we found a bear and rescued him from the tree. He really enjoyed his apple!
Today we have been very excited as our tiny and very hungry caterpillars have arrived in Nursery. We looked closely at what was inside the pot and talked about what we think might happen and how we can take care of them. We know lots about the life cycle of a butterfly from our story ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’. We have set up an observation table and we are going to watch carefully to see what happens over the next few weeks.
