The Newsham Primary Community are very keen gardeners!

These are some of the things we have been working on;

  • Raised beds
  • A minibeast hotel
  • A wormery
  • Composting

This summer, as a trial, we grew plants in the classrooms. Some of this food has ended up as part of our healthy school dinners. With a full garden planned we are hoping to increase how much of our own produce is served at lunchtimes.

Undertaking such a big project would be hard to do alone, and in true Newsham fashion we have received help from many areas. Friends of Newsham have been incredibly generous with their time and money, and have even helped us secure some grants to help us along.

Parent and wider family members have helped staff and pupils at weekends with digging, weeding moving and planting.

The project is really coming together.
