Dear Staff, Parents and Carers,
Please find attached to this email a letter from Audrey Kingham, Director of Education and Liz Morgan, Director of Public Health for Northumberland.
In addition to information about the new variant, the letter explains that schools should not be inviting parents, carers, and other external visitors into schools at this time. Fortunately, I had already taken this decision at Newsham Primary School due to the high level of cases that have affected us throughout the pandemic. I had however, been concerned that parents and carers might compare our school to others where families were invited in for performances etc, but our parents and carers have been fantastic and backed my decisions at every stage of this unprecedented journey.
Having read the attached letter, I am so pleased to have made the decision I did at such an early stage in our Christmas planning arrangements. I feel sorry for schools where plans are suddenly having to be cancelled or significantly changed but I do think it is the safest decision under the circumstances.
At Newsham Primary School we will not be required to change any of our plans thank goodness. The children’s Christmas songs are being filmed this week and will be made available to you online as agreed.
As always, I am extremely grateful for the constant level of support and understanding you extend to me as Headteacher. We really do have such a special school community and we are there to help you in any way possible as we move forward.
Take care and stay safe.
Mrs Anne-Marie Armstrong
