Dear Parents and Carers,
I’m sure after the Prime Minister’s statement last night, you will have lots of questions about our school reopening. I have lots of questions that need clarification too.
Until I receive more details, today for us in school, there is no change to the guidance. We will provide care for the children of those parents whose work is critical to the COVID-19 response and a small number of vulnerable pupils. For now, it is still much safer to stay at home and avoiding a second wave of this dreadful virus is vital.
As Headteacher, I have not received any information to support with this new plan to start the phased reopening for some year groups. I expect further information from the Government’s Department for Education will arrive shortly and I hope this will include further clarification.
I will need clear guidance to plan how it will be possible to social distance in school and keep our children, staff and families safe; how I might start to phase the groups of children returning and how this could be organised.
Please be assured that I will keep you informed but for now, try not to worry. Our plan for now is to continue to provide activities for learning at home, keep contact with you our families and continue to support each other in these very difficult and uncertain times.
Thank you for your unfailing support. Your wonderful feedback makes me realise that you have absolute faith in our wonderful staff and my leadership as Headteacher. I know you already understand that I treat our special school with as much thought, care and love as my own family and will continue to do so.
Mrs Armstrong ❤️
