Following damage to our car park barrier, we’ve had increasing concerns about the number of vehicles on site and the impact on safety. Unfortunately, there have simply been too many cars in the car park to keep everyone safe.
Over the holiday, a new barrier has now been installed. Going forward, the car park is for staff and official visitors only.
We will continue to allow access for:
Blue Badge holders (when the badge holder is present and needs access)
A very small number of families with exceptional need
Our previous Newsham Blue Badges will now be reviewed and replaced with a new green badge system, which will only be issued in cases of the highest need.
We understand many families feel they have valid reasons to drive close to school, and we always aim to be accommodating. However, every additional car increases risk to our children and community.
Key reminder:
Parent access to the car park (for those with approved badges) will only be from 3:00pm onwards
Wherever possible, please avoid bringing your car. If you do need to drive, we kindly ask you to be respectful of our neighbours—many local residents, including elderly members of the community, rely on clear access to their homes.
Thank you for working with us to keep everyone safe—the Newsham Way.
